Address Time

Ok, so I finally got an address for all you boys and girls.

Myers, Justin, SPC
350 TPC
COB Speicher
APO AE 09393

That's it. Feel free to send me whatever you want, just not alcohol or anything that will spoil. It takes about a month for mail to get here by normal means, but I think amazon shipping is pretty fast. Take it easy folks I'll update again when I actually have something to talk about.

Update: Ok, it seems amazon doesn't ship some items here. I have no idea what exactly the real restrictions are so you'll just have to see for yourself.

I took the time to look up the restrictions on shipping, here's what I found..

09393 A-A1-B-B1-C1-E2-F-H1-M-R-R1-V-Z1

Most of these are irrelevant but there are a few important things here.

B1. PS Form 2976 or 2976-A is required. Articles are liable for customs
duty and/or purchase tax unless they are bona fide gifts intended for use by
military personnel or their dependents. When the contents of a parcel meet
these requirements, the mailer must endorse the customs form, “Certified to
be a bona fide gift, personal effects, or items for personal use of military personnel
and dependents,” under the heading, Description of Contents.

I think this pretty much means anything we send is duty free so long as we declare that is is for personal use, that we're not actually selling anything here.

C1. Obscene articles, prints, paintings, cards, films, videotapes, etc., and
horror comics and matrices are prohibited.

Well there goes half my ideas.

E2. Any matter depicting nude or seminude persons, pornographic or
sexual items, or nonauthorized political materials is prohibited. Although religious
materials contrary to the Islamic faith are prohibited in bulk quantities,
items for the personal use of the addressee are permissible.

So even porn with the crotches cut out isn't allowed, nor is that box of 4,000 bibles I was going to send.

F. Firearms of any type are prohibited in all classes of mail.

I'm sure he has plenty of guns.

H1. Pork or pork by-products are prohibited.

Translation: No bricks of bacon.

M. Fruits, animals, and living plants are prohibited.

No puppies? :(

R. All alcoholic beverages, including those mailable under DMM 601.8.0,
are prohibited.
R1. Materials used in the production of alcoholic beverages (i.e., distilling
material, hops, malts, yeast, etc.) are prohibited.

Fuck man, they're totally harshing your buzz.

V. Express Mail Military Service (EMMS) not available from any origin.

Don't look forward to speedy delivery.

That's the gist of it, the other restrictions don't apply to anything we would send.

The U.S. Postal Service has also introduced a Military Care Kit, or “Mili-kit” to make it easier for military families and friends to send care packages to their loved ones stationed overseas. Since the inception of the Military Care Kit, the U.S. Postal Service has shipped more than 150,000 kits. Each kit contains three flat rate boxes, two cube boxes, nine address labels, and 16 customs forms. This kit may be ordered by calling the USPS Expedited Package Supply Center at 1-800-610-8734. There is no charge for the kit.

The Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes included in the kit can be shipped to any APO/FPO in the world, regardless of weight, for $8.95.
